Vivian Patricia James Wilson Obituary

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.”

Psalms 116:15

On Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at approximately 5:30 a.m. the angel of death visited the Home of Wendy Wilson Youmans to escort her mother, Vivian Patricia James Wilson to her eternal home. She transitioned with her three daughters by her side.

Vivian Patricia James Wilson was born June 23, 1948 to the late Norman Vernell James and Rena Fuller James of Sutherlin, Virginia.

She was a graduate of Southside High School where she learned to play the flute that was lovingly purchased by her father. While rearing her family, Vivian returned to school to further her education obtaining an Associate degree in early childhood development from Danville Community College. Vivian had an artistic and creative spirit. She worked in the textile industry many years before retiring.

Upon completion of her high school education, she married the late “BO” Charlie T. Wilson. This union was blessed with five children; Carl Thomas Wilson (deceased), Wendy Bernell Wilson Youmans, Crystal Tomeka Wilson Butler, Jamie Lashawn Wilson and Candace Nicole Wilson. As the years went by their family continued to grow with six grandchildren; Tenaj Wilson, Korri Butler, Kayla Butler, Aniah Wilson, Ataia Wilson and Tavion White. She has a host of loving nieces and nephews. She was very blessed to have a devoted son-in-law, Quinton Youmans who helped to care for her dearly in her last years of life.

Vivian loved the LORD and she dedicated her life to serving HIM. She was baptized at an early age and was a member at Cascade Primitive Baptist Church. She later joined Calvary United Church of Jesus Christ in Martinsville, VA under the leadership of Bishop Doug and Cynthia Ingram where she was an appointed Mother of the Church. She was a faithful attendee of bible studies, prayer meetings, and church services.

Vivian was a willing soldier and would do anything to help a friend or stranger in need. She was a loving mother, loyal wife and a friend to many in the Cascade Community. She had a giving heart and was known for her beautiful smile and heartfelt laughter. She was a natural comedian who found joy in making others smile even when she was distressed.

Vivian was blessed to have a total of 14 brothers and sisters: Thomas Culley (deceased), Malissa Ferguson, Edith Brandon (deceased), Vernell James, Bessene King, Sparkie Adams, Everette James, Bobby James, Joyce Ann Logan, Sheila James, Jerome James (deceased), Julian “Johnny” James, Nakita James and Andrea Cameron (deceased). Their spouses included: Bernard Ferguson (deceased), Jerry Brandon (deceased), Connie James, Alvicia James, Donna James, Anthony Logan, Darnita James and Tony Cameron.
