Yanceyville, NC - It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Mrs. Thelma Lea Johnson formerly of 312 Dillard School Dr., Yanceyville, NC who passed away Monday, April 5, 2021 in the Brian Center Nursing Facility, Yanceyville, NC.
She was born July 17, 1925 in Caswell County, NC and was the daughter of the late Bailey Lea, Sr. and Sarah Bell Lea. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Johnson, Sr. ; two sons, Charles Johnson, Jr., and Ernest T. Johnson; one daughter, Ella Johnson Kimber; four brothers, Bailey Lea Jr., William, Linberg and Fred Lea; four sisters, Rebecca Totten, Sarah Bell Lea, Maude Burwell and Susie Lea.
Mrs. Thelma Lea Johnson was a member of Yanceyville Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully. She also was a member of the Eastern Star, NAACP, Chapter Member of Deeds and Boy Scout and Girl Scout Leader.
Mrs. Thelma Lea Johnson leaves to cherish precious memories one son, Kenneth R. Johnson (Lucy) of Yanceyville, NC; one daughter, Alisa Ann Johnson (LD) of Durham, NC; one sister, Florine Lea Randolph of Newark, NJ; one sister-in-law, Ruth Lea of Yanceyville, NC; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Due to the constraints of public gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak a viewing will be Saturday, April 10, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00PM in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home with a limit of 10 people at a time.
(Per CDC Guidelines: Facial Masks are required).
Funeral Services for Mrs. Thelma Lea Johnson will be Sunday, April 11, 2021, 2:00 PM in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Yanceyville Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Yanceyville, NC. (Per CDC Guidelines Facial Mask are required).
*Attendance at the funeral will be limited to fifty (50) individuals and attendees will be pre-determined by the family*.
