Yanceyville, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mrs.Thelma Corbett Lea of 308 John Lea Rd. Yanceyville, NC, who passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at the Alamance Regional Medical Center (Cone Health) in Burlington, NC.
Thelma was a native of Caswell County, NC the daughter of the late Wesley Corbett and Rosa Miles Corbett, born February 22, 1928. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church, Yanceyville, NC. She served her church faithfully as an Usher, Missionary and member of the Kitchen Committee.
Thelma was a homemaker and a substitute teacher in the Caswell County School System for many years. She loved her co-workers and students dearly.
Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Hunter Lea; two sons, William Lea and Terry Lea; sisters, Pearl Poteat, Ola Jeffers, Sarah Graves and Dorothy Allen; brothers, Dallas, Warner, Keely, Elbert and David Corbett.
Mrs.Thelma Corbett Lea leaves to cherish her memories to her two daughters, Janet Lea Daniel (Aron) of Semora, North Carolina and Bonnie Lea Surgeon (Herbert) of Greensboro, North Carolina; two sisters, Geraldine Kimber of Reidsville, North Carolina and Shirley Love of Bowie, Maryland her daughter-in-law, Janice Lea of Memphis,Tennessee; eight grandchildren, Arielle Lea, Ariana Lea both of Memphis, Tennessee, Brandon Lea (Stephanie) of Graham, North Carolina, Briana Gant of Mebane, North Carolina, Andrea Duffy (Murray) of Georgia, Audrey Wilson of Nashville, Tennessee, Derek Hawkins (Nicole) of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Nikki Foster (Jermail) of South Boston, Virginia; ten great-grandchildren, Braedyn Lea, Marley Lea, Kaysen Lea, M.J. Duffy, Prince Duffy, Avory Gordon, Jhayden Ingram, Avianna Cunningham, Ava Lea, and Justin Foster; her special caregivers, Shinnette Graves, Wanda Wilkins, and Jean Stewart; and a host of nieces; nephews; other relatives; and cherished friends.
The family is receiving guest at Mrs. Thelma Corbett Lea daughter's residence: 13279 NC-HWY 119 North, Semora, NC 27343.
A viewing for Mrs. Thelma Corbett Lea will be Saturday, December 10, 2022 from 2 PM to 7 PM in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Thelma Corbett Lea will be Sunday, December 11, 2022 at 1:30 PM at High Rock Baptist Church, Blanch, NC with Family Visitation from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM
