Blanch, NC - It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Minister Janiet Harris Long age 55 of 1173 John Long Road, Blanch, North Carolina. She passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024; at Forsyth Medical Center, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Janiet, the beloved daughter of the late Thomas Harris and Dorothy Mae Gunn Harris Coles, was born on January 27, 1969, in Danville, Virginia.
She attended the local public schools and was employed at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, North Carolina as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
Janiet was a faithful member at Pearson Chapel A.M.E. Church in Yanceyville, North Carolina, where she served as an Associate Minister and sang in the Church Choir.
She was preceded in death by her daughter: Chiquita Thompson; her sister: Angela Harris; and three brothers: LC, William, and James Harris.
Minister Janiet Harris Long leaves to cherish her memories, her beloved husband: Sidney Long of the home; her son: Rashon Thompson of Richmond, Virginia, two sisters: Pattie Turner of Yanceyville, North Carolina, and Mary Powell of Roanoke Virginia; four brothers, Robert Harris of Rocky Mount, Virginia, Thomas Harris (Teresa) of Chatham, Virginia, Joe Lewis Harris of Wiltz, Virginia, and Haywood Harold Harris of Rocky Mount, Virginia; a sister-in-law: Alice Harris Word of Danville, Virginia; a brother-in-law: Dean Harris of Blairs Virginia;and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, her church family, and many cherished friends.
Public viewing for Minister Janiet Harris Long will be on Sunday, April 28, 2024; from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Minister Janiet Harris Long will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2024, at Pearson Chapel AME Church Yanceyville, North Carolina.
