Yanceyville, NC - On Thursday, October 15, 2020 God called into eternal rest a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law, aunt, sister-in-law and friend; Mrs. Marion Inez Blackwell Williamson.
Marion was the daughter of the late Lawrence Blackwell and Ethel Badgett Blackwell born on October 12, 1929 in Caswell County, North Carolina. She was a graduate of Caswell County Training School and was a homemaker. Marion’s favorite pastimes were cooking, sewing, gardening, and serving God. She was also an active member of the local American Legion.
Marion gave her life to Christ at an early age where she became a life-long and faithful member of New Ephesus Baptist Church until her health declined. She served as an active and faithful member, on the usher board for fifty-eight years. Due to her dedication and work in the church along with her humble spirit she was appointed as the “Mother of the Church”.
In addition to her parents, Lawrence and Ethel Blackwell; Marion was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John L. Williamson, Sr., five siblings, Mary Lily Blackwell, Dora Ann Lawson, Ethel Simpson, Lawrence Earl Blackwell and Thomas Blackwell.
Mrs. Marion Inez Blackwell Williamson leaves to cherish her memory to her loving family: one son, John L. Williamson, Jr. (Viola) of Eden, North Carolina; two daughters, Marva W. Michael (James) of Bowie, Maryland, Shelia W. Richmond (Ray) of Milton, North Carolina; one step-son, Francis Williamson of Danville, Virginia; two grandsons, Cedric Williamson (Carrie) and Desmond Michael (Jehari); five granddaughters, Danielle Michael, Nikita R. Adams (Reginald), Natia R. Petree (Teddy), Candice and Denise Hairston; nine great grandchildren, Emery Williamson, Malachi and Mecca Michael, Jackson Powell, Jonathan, Zion, and Triniti Petree, Kayla and Nicholas Adams; four sisters-in-law, Betty Blackwell and Edith W. Martin both of Reidsville, North Carolina, Edith F. Williamson of Yanceyville, North Carolina and Dorothy Williamson of Ruffin, North Carolina; a devoted cousin, Darlene Clark (Ronnie) of Reidsville, North Carolina; many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Due to the constraints of public gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak a viewing will be Monday, October 19, 2020 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home with a limit of 10 people at a time. (Per CDC Guidelines: Facial Masks are required).
Funeral Services for Mrs. Marion Inez Blackwell Williamson will be Tuesday, October 20, 2020, 12:00 O’clock at New Ephesus Missionary Baptist Church Parking Lot. Pastor E. Lamar Boykin will deliver the words of comfort.
Interment will follow at the New Ephesus Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 8939 Hwy 158, Ruffin, North Carolina. ( The service will be livestreamed.)
