Josephine Oliver Williamson

 Yanceyville, NC - Mrs. Josephine Oliver Williamson slipped away peacefully and entered eternal rest on November 19, 2020. Josephine was born on March 30, 1936 to Martha Poteat Oliver and Willie A. Oliver of Caswell County. She received her formal education at the Caswell County Training School and graduated in 1956. In 1957, Josephine married Fred Williamson, Jr. and to this union they were blessed with three children. Josephine was a devoted mother and a hard worker. She worked at Hanover Mills in Yanceyville, NC for 15 years before retiring from Burlington Industries.  

Josephine loved her family dearly. She enjoyed family gatherings and cherished all the moments spent with her children, grandchildren; great grandchildren and extended family. She was vibrant and enjoyed having conversations that piqued her interest. Josephine had several hobbies which included reading, playing dominos, and gardening.

At an early age, Josephine accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined High Rock Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until her death.

Josephine was predeceased by her parents, one sister, Emmaline Spearman; 4 brothers, Willie Pete Oliver, James Doug Oliver, Willard Oliver, and Daniel Poteat.

Josephine leaves to cherish precious memories her husband, Fred Williamson, Jr. of the home; two daughers, Wanda K. Benson of Yanceyville, NC, and Catherine Williamson-Hardy (Leroy) of Durham, NC; one son, Winfred O. Williamson of Yanceyville, NC.; one sister, Shinette Graves of Yanceyville, NC; one sister-in-law, Annette Oliver of Yanceyville, NC; nine loving grandchildren: Desiree Benson, Koray Benson (Jessica), Alexandria Gwynn, Kelsi Williamson, Paige Hardy, Nydia Williamson, Chad Hardy, Cameron Williamson, and Ava Williamson; six great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.  

Due to the constraints of public gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak a viewing will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2020 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home with a limit of 10 people at a time. Please remember to follow CDC guidelines with everyone wearing protective gloves and masks.

Graveside Service will be Monday, November 23, 2020  1:00 PM  in the  High Rock Baptist Church Cemetery with family and close friends. ( facial masks are required ) .
