MILTON, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Deacon Ivie Lewis Royster, 83, of 65 Leas Street, Milton, North Carolina, who died Sunday, January 24, 2021 at UNC Hospital, Hillsborough, North Carolina.
Deacon Ivie Lewis Royster was the son of the late Lewis Royster and Zell Stewart Royster, born June 22, 1937 in Caswell County, North Carolina.
Deacon Ivie Royster was a member of the Word of Faith Apostolic Church in Milton, North Carolina. While attending the Word of Faith Apostolic Church he served faithfully to the call of a Deacon. He was the president of the Male Chorus, and he was also the Director and lead singer for the Adult Choir. Deacon Ivie Royster was also an adamant and passionate Sunday School student.
Deacon Ivie Royster held several jobs prior to his retirement from Piedmont Community College in Yanceyville, North Carolina. To his wife he was a great companion and friend. To his daughter he was a great father. To his grandchildren he was an awesome grandfather, and to his community he was a good neighbor.
In addition to his parents, Deacon Ivie Royster was preceded in death by three sisters, Pauline Elmore, Lois Elmore, and Annie Farmer: two brothers, Robert Garland and James Phelps.
Deacon Ivie Lewis Royster leaves to cherish his beloved memories to his: wife, Edith Farmer Royster of Semora, North Carolina; daughter, Linda R. Johnson (Keith) of Danville, Virginia; one beloved sister, Geneva Royster Blackwell of Milton, North Carolina; devoted nephew, Elder James “Jimmy” Royster; three brothers-in-law, John Farmer (Linda) of Reidsville, North Carolina; Lee Farmer (Nannie) of Milton, North Carolina and Warner Hodges Farmer (Rose) of Semora, North Carolina; two devoted cousins/sisters, Virginia Elliott of Milton, North Carolina and Alease Leftwich of Danville, Virginia; three grandchildren, Darrius J. Johnson and Jaquia L. Johnson and Jaime J. Rodgers (Yorick) all of Danville, Virginia; two great grandsons, Logan Rodgers and Greyson Rodgers of Danville, Virginia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
Due to the constraints of public gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak a viewing will be Saturday, January 30, 2021 from 2 to 7 p.m. in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home with a limit of 10 people at a time. (Per CDC Guidelines: Facial Masks are required and Social Distancing).
Graveside Services for Deacon Ivie Lewis Royster will be Tuesday, February 2, 2021, 1:00 PM in the Word Of Faith Church Cemetery, Milton, NC. (Per CDC Guidelines: Facial Masks are required and Social Distancing). Elder Tracy Breedlove will deliver the words of comfort.
