Harry Scott Lee Jr.

Greensboro, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Harry Scott Lee Jr., of 3805 Palladium Dr. who passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2023; at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital, in Greensboro, NC.

Harry was born in Milton, North Carolina on February 28, 1951; to Martha Phyllis Hughes Lee and the late Harry Scott Lee Sr.; who later moved to Baltimore, Maryland.

While growing up, Harry loved God, and professed an early faith.  Harry was educated in the Maryland school system and graduated from Calvert Hall College High School, where he earned a basketball  scholarship. His post-secondary education included Seminole Junior College in Florida and Birmingham-Southern College in Alabama, where he also earned basketball scholarships. Harry was one of the two first black basketball players to sign with Birmingham-Southern in 1971.

After college, Harry proudly served with the United States Coast Guard, where he was selected for duties including the basketball team, swim instruction, and the elite Honor Guard. After serving his country, Harry owned three businesses before settling into car sales. He earned numerous top sales awards in Maryland, North Carolina, and South Carolina. After retiring from the sales industry, Harry continued to work part-time as an airport driver until his full retirement.

In addition to his father, Harry Scott Lee Sr.; Harry was preceded in death by three sons, Harry Eugene Lee, Hassan Lee, and Akil Lee.

Mr. Harry Scott Lee Jr. leaves to cherish his memories to his wife, Nellie Vinston Lee of the home; his two daughters, Erika Lee Kilgore (John) of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Ashley Lee Guynn (Connor) of Raleigh, North Carolina; his son, Allen Lee of Baltimore, Maryland; his mother, Martha Phyllis Hughes Lee of Baltimore, Maryland; his sister, Beverly Tucker of Nottingham, Maryland; his “brothers”, Ray Richmond and Darrell Willingham; his eleven grandchildren; his sixteen great-grandchildren; and his other loving relatives, and friends.

A viewing for Mr. Harry Scott Lee Jr.  will be Monday, January 23, 2023; from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral.

Family Visitation for Mr. Harry Scott Lee Jr.  will be Tuesday, January 24, 2023; from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m.

Funeral Services for Mr. Harry Scott Lee Jr. will be Tuesday, January 24, 2023; at 1 p.m. at Macedonia AME Church, in Milton, NC.

Interment will follow at the Macedonia AME Church Cemetery in Milton, NC.
