Reidsville, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Mrs. Harriet Graves Pickard, 66, of 7290 Hwy 87, Reidsville, North Carolina, who died Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro, North Carolina.
Mrs. Harriet Graves Pickard was the first daughter of the late William Douglas and Dorothy Carol Jackson Graves; born on September 15, 1954 in Caswell County, North Carolina.
Harriet attended and graduated in the “Class of 1972” from Bartlett Yancey Senior High School in Yanceyville, North Carolina. Later, she attended Danville Community College; in Danville, Virginia; where she studied stenography and bookkeeping. Harriet was a very confident woman who believed in putting her whole heart in everything that she did!
Harriet was an active member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church (UMC) in Reidsville, North Carolina; where she was currently the Chairperson of Administrative Council. She also served on various past committees but, Harriet’s most enjoyment was writing, participating in the church holiday plays, and also reading true crime novels.
Mrs. Harriet Graves Pickard was a Claims Adjuster with Laboratory Corporation (Known as LabCorp) in Burlington, North Carolina; until her retirement in 2016. During her retirement years Harriet pursued an opportunity as a Legal Assistant for the Law Office of Attorney Eunice Jones-Obeng in Reidsville, North Carolina.
In addition to Harriet’s parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Artimus “Timie” Graves, and Peter Dale Graves.
Mrs. Harriet Graves Pickard leaves to cherish her beloved memories to her one daughter, Tiara Pickard of Greensboro, North Carolina; devoted friend, Marshall Pickard; one sister, Denise Graves Pierce (Everett) of Yanceyville, North Carolina; two brothers, Jerry Neal Graves (Margie) of Asheboro, North Carolina and Mark Reginald Graves (Verleda) of Warner Robins, Georgia; two grandchildren, Tristen, and Taegan; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Due to the constraints of public gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak a viewing will be Sunday, November 15, 2020 from 2 to 8 p.m. in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home with a limit of 10 people at a time. (Per CDC Guidelines: Facial Masks are required).
Family Visitation will be 12:30 pm at the Yanceyville Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Harriet Graves Pickard will be Monday, November 16, 2020, 1:00 pm at Yanceyville Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Yanceyville Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Yanceyville, North Carolina. Pastor Dale Sneed will deliver the words of comfort.
*Attendance at the funeral will be limited to fifty (50) individuals and attendees will be pre-determined by the family*.
