Milton, NC – It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Mr. Earl Franklin Hughes who passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro, N.C.
Earl was the son of the late Onslow Hughes and Ila Mae Wade Hughes,
Earl was born August 23, 1940 in Caswell County, N.C. He attended Caswell County High School. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Earl Hughes Jr. and sister Eva Samuels.
Earl moved from North Carolina to Washington, D.C. then to New York City in 1964. He worked at varies demolition companies in New York. His favorite past time was playing Soft ball in Mount Morris Park and fishing. Also he loved watching the New York Yankees at any time and every opportunity he had.
Earl moved back to North Carolina in 1992, where he started a small Car Wash business named (Uncle Earl), Landscaper and Car Service.
He was a faithful member of The New Haven Missionary Baptist Church. Earl also was a choir member of the New Haven Missionary Baptist Church, and The Milton Male Chorus. Earl leaves to mourn his five daughters, Sonia Hughes and Valerie Hughes both of Harlem, New York, Shelley Lawrence Hughes of Perth Amboy, N.J. , Katrina Hayward of Bronx, N.Y. and Demetria Jeffers of MI. (3) Sons – Tony Hughes of Washington, D.C., Walter Hughes(Kim) of New York, NY, Tyson Hughes of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Brandon Hughes of Concord, N.C; two sisters, Dorothy Jefferies of Milton, N.C. and Jerlene Hughes(Luther) of Danville, Va.; two brothers Wallace Hughes of Washington D.C., and James Hughes of Yanceyville, N.C; twenty grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would love to give Shelly Lawrence Hughes his daughter a special thank you for all her support in staying by his side.
A viewing will be Friday, June 11, 2021 from 2 to 7 pm and Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.

Parking lot services for Mr. Earl Hughes will be Saturday, June 12, 2021, 2:00 p.m. at the New Haven Baptist Church . Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Milton, North Carolina. (Per CDC Guidelines Facial Mask are required).
