It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Miss. Dorothy L. Phillips, who entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at Annie Penn Memorial Hospital in Reidsville, North Carolina.
Dorothy was born in Yanceyville, North Carolina on September 9, 1944 to the late Anderson and Lillie Maude Vaughn Phillips.
Dorothy accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age and joined Graves Chapel Baptist Church. Dorothy loved serving God and others, joining and serving alongside her sister as an usher at Graves Chapel Baptist Church.
Dorothy attended the Caswell County High School, graduating in 1962.
Dorothy was certified as a substitute teacher with Graves Chapel Church Day Care Center in 1986 where she served for many years along with her sister, Vivian. She loved children and enjoyed the satisfying work teaching them about God's love.
Dorothy also attained a Nursing Assistant Certification from Piedmont Community College in 1990.
Dorothy loved gardening, watching sports, attending church and family functions, class reunions and spending time with her sisters and niece. Although sweet and loving, those who knew her best will laugh and tell you about her feisty side, as she would fuss you up one side, then down the other, then tell you how much she loved you, all in the same breath. She was strong in mind and faith and knew exactly how she wanted things done and would quickly correct you if things weren't just right. Her sharp yet soft wit and humor will be greatly missed.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson and Lillie Maude Vaughn Phillips; sisters, Betty Mae, Flossie, Ernestine and Joan; maternal grandparents, Alex and Fleater B. Vaughn, and paternal grandparents, Major Frank and Betty Fannie Phillips.
Dorothy is survived by her devoted and loving sister, Vivian Phillips; one niece, Lekeshia Malone (Ricky); one great niece, Kaylee; brother-in-law, Horace M. Lee (Carol), cousins, other loving relatives, her church family and many friends.
