Delano "Roosevelt" Hughes

Milton, NC - It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Mr. Delano “Roosevelt” Hughes of Milton, North Carolina, who passed away Saturday, July 17, 2021 in the Alamance Health Care Center, Burlington, North Carolina.

Born June 16, 1937 in Caswell County, North Carolina to the late John Hughes and Easter Brandon Hughes.

He worked for many years with Automotive Science Group in Silver Springs, Maryland until the company was sold. Prior to his retirement, he worked as an Insurance Representative with Allstate, Inc.  Then, he later returned to North Carolina to live.

Roosevelt as he was known by everyone, enjoyed attending the Senior Center in Yanceyville before his health declined.  His pastime included: Bowling, Horse Racing Shows and Traveling.

In addition to his parents, Roosevelt was preceded in death by one son, Raymond Jackson; one sister, Shirley H. Stewart; four brothers, James, Albert, John and Walter Hughes; three sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law.

Mr. Delano “Roosevelt” Hughes, leaves to cherish his memories to one granddaughter, Angel Jackson and one great grandson, Jayden A. Johnson both of South Carolina; two sisters, Cora Hughes of White Plains, Maryland and Queen Elliott of Mebane, North Carolina; two brothers, Van Hughes (Mildred) and Harry Hughes both of Milton, North Carolina; two devoted nieces, Lisa Stewart of Mebane, North Carolina and Leslie Stewart of Milton, North Carolina; and a host of nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Memorial Services for Mr. Delano “Roosevelt” Hughes will be announced at a later date.
