Yanceyville, NC - Deacon Clarence “Jack” Simpson, Jr., was born in Beckley, West Virginia on July 18, 1940 to the late Clarence Simpson, Sr., and Alice Virginia Pogue Simpson. He departed this earthly life on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at his residence.
Deacon Simpson was affectionally known by family and friends as “Jack”. He was also a graduate of the Caswell County School. Afterwards, Deacon Simpson joined and served his country in the U. S. Army. Then he began his career and retired at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Danville, Virginia. Deacon Simpson’s favorite pastime was farming.
Deacon Simpson accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior, where he attended Mineral Springs Baptist Church in Pelham, North Carolina. There he was a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, a Trustee, a member of the Male Chorus and the Usher board.
In addition to his parents, Deacon Simpson was preceded in death by his Godparents (aunt & uncle), Simon and Georgeanna Gwynn; four brothers, Hiawatha Simpson, Simon Gwynn Jr., James Johnson, and Larry Gwynn; two sisters, Mary "Mae" Gwynn, and Edith Mae Vasser.
Deacon Clarence “Jack” Simpson, Jr., leaves to cherish his beloved memories to his devoted and loving wife, Lorraine Watlington Simpson of the home, two daughters, Glynis Poteat (Anthony) of Greensboro, North Carolina and Revenda Simpson of Yanceyville, North Carolina; two sons, Rodney Simpson (Blondell) and Derrick Simpson (Kristan) both of Yanceyville, North Carolina; stepmother, Louise Simpson of Durham, North Carolina; five brothers, Eddie Simpson, Douglas Simpson, Charleston Simpson, James Simpson all of Yanceyville, North Carolina, and Zackery Simpson (Tammy) of Reidsville, North Carolina; eight sisters, Alice Redding of Pelham, North Carolina, Blondell Montgomery (Donald) of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Angela Simpson Hines (Roy) of Durham, North Carolina, Silvey Stokes, Stephanie Simpson, Cynthia Simpson all of Morristown, New Jersey, Loretta Ramsey (Tom) of Greensboro, North Carolina and Dorothy G. Slade of Yanceyville, North Carolina, one brother-in-law, Stanley Watlington of Yanceyville, North Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Valeria King (Leroy) of Pelham, North Carolina and Ruth Gwynn of Capitol Heights, MD; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Due to the constraints of public gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak a viewing will be Friday, February 26, 2021 from 2 to 7 p.m. in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home with a limit of 10 people at a time.

Funeral Service for Deacon Clarence Eugene " Jack " Simpson Jr. . will be Saturday, February 27, 2021 1:00 pm in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home. Pastor Freddie Seabrooks will deliver the words of comfort. Interment will follow at the Mineral Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites.
*Attendance at the funeral will be limited to fifty (50) individuals and attendees will be pre-determined by the family*.
