Burlie Hester Graves

Brown Summit, NC - It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Mr. Burlie Hester Graves of 7707 Locust Grove Road, Brown Summit, NC, who passed away Friday, September 10, 2021 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital, in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Mr. Burlie Hester Graves was a native of Caswell County, North Carolina, and he was born February 9, 1957 to the late Burlie Graves and Beulah Willis Brown Graves. Many affectionately knew him as “Hester”.

Hester was attending New Ephesus Baptist Church in Ruffin, North Carolina. 

Hester was self-employed as a Construction Contractor, prior to his retirement (He was considered “A Jack of all Trades”).

Hester’s favorite pastimes were fishing, and spending time with family and friends.

In addition to Hester’s parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Michael Graves; two sisters, Hazel Mae Jones, and Beulah Yvonne Haas; three brothers, Fred Brown Sr., William Albert Tate, and Alvis David Brown.

Mr. Burlie Hester Graves leaves to cherish his precious memories to Deloris Graves; one daughter, Tameika Hawkins (Kenneth) of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; one brother, Leon Graves of Hampton, Virginia.; two sisters, Shirley Bacon (Donell) of Syracuse, New York, and Claudia Cave of Washington, District of Columbia (DC); two grandchildren, Roger Moore of Burlington, North Carolina and Michael Gant of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; a devoted friend, Carolyn Southern of Yanceyville, North Carolina; and a host of nieces; nephews; other relatives, and friends.

Due to the constraints of public gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak a viewing will be Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.

Graveside Services for Mr. Burlie Hester Graves will be Sunday, September 19, 2021 2:00 PM at the Corbett Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery Pelham, NC, with Pastor Lamar Boykin of New Ephesus Baptist Church delivering the words of comfort.
