Addie Stokes

Ruffin, NC - It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Mrs. Addie Page Stokes formerly of Goose Pond Rd. Ruffin, NC, who passed away Monday, September 20, 2021 in Baltimore, MD.

Mrs. Addie Page Stokes was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania October 21, 1922 to the late Harrison P. Page and Addie Elizabeth Allen Page.  At an early age Addie moved to Baltimore with her parents and two sisters Gladys and Dorothy.

Addie met and married the late Willis W. Stokes on July 12, 1950. To this union two daughters were born Addie Sylvia and Barbara Anne.  Her informal education was completed in the public school system of Baltimore City, graduating from Frederick Douglas Senior High School.  She furthered her education at Cortez W. Peter Business School in Baltimore, Maryland.

In January 1941, she joined Morning Star Baptist Church. She was a faithful member serving as secretary for the Senior Missionary Society and was a member of the Deaconess and Finance Board until moving to North Carolina and uniting with the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, Ruffin, NC as a member of the Missionary Society and Sunday School.

Addie was employed for a short time with the C&P Telephone and the Glen L. Martin Companies.  Lastly, she was employed by the Baltimore City Public School System at Forest Park Senior High School as secretary in the Guidance Department until retiring October 1, 1983.

Addie leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Sylvia Diedhiou (Regisse) and Barbara Worsham both of Maryland; two grandchildren, Chantell Worsham and Gabin Diedhiou and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.

Due to the constraints of public gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak a viewing will be Friday, October 1, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Addie Page Stokes will be Saturday, October 2, 2021 11:00 a.m. in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in Mt. Hermon Baptist Church Cemetery, Ruffin, NC.
